My Lifeblood.. GONE!!!

  • Reading: Long Way Round
  • Watching: Long Way Down
  • Playing: Pokemon Diamond
  • Eating: Butter Chicken
  • Drinking: Coke
NUUUUUU!!!!
In case anybody hasn't heard, they are closing 61 Starbucks stores throughout Australia, including my local one (and my backups!!!)

Now, i know there are worse things (like global crisis and getting hit over the head with books), but Starbucks was special to me. I will always remeber the thrill of riding up to it on my dad's motorbike and getting off, having people stare at me in my bike jacket, sitting with my parents and having a nice converstaion- a bonging moment so sadly lacking in my life. I will remember when I went there in Victoria and met my boyfriend there, finally chatting face to face over our common weakness, the humble Starbucks latte. I will remember the stress of life being lifted off my shoulder for a short, but sweet time by a shot of that heavenly caffiene...
Why can't I write like this normally????

God bless you Starbucks, I hope you are back soon.
DON'T LEAVE ME WITH GLORIA JEANS!!!!!!!

In other news... Jack White's doing the next Bond theme song!!!!!! (with Alicia Keys, but that's irrelevant)
And does anybody on here like Long Way Round/Race To Dakar/Long Way Down/ By Any Means??? Just wondering :)

See you all :(

PS. My last Starbucks coffe is probably tomorrow :( Have $15 left on my gift card there!!!!

Lol, well obviously you're the only one in Australia that likes the store, hence the closing.
Me, I'm perfectly happy with Gloria Jeans, or any or all of the above.
I even make my own coffee, and it doesn't cost me $5 a cup! Fancy that.
:)

... sure. I think they would have closed a lot sooner. And there is still stores open, but they are in Sydney

Gloria Jeans uses out of date syrups and burns their milk. And they treat you like crap of you complain about it and ask for a replacement.

And making your own coffee costs the amount for the instant coffee granules. And its not even worth that then.
And starbucks only tends to cost me $3 per visit , which is cheaper than Gloria Jeans, McCafe or any other "gourmet-but-we-can't-make-coffee-for-shit-so-we-just-use-fancy-brands" cafe out there. That is a $5 cup there. And it's a cup. Not a big one. Unlike Starbucks. :P

Too lame to think of a decent siggy.... Screw it. THE RACONTEURS RULE!!!!!!!!
And the White Stripes :)

honestly, starbucks and gloria jeans and all those other fancy gourmet coffee shops kinda piss me off.
something about mass marketing what appears to be a small, personal, unique thing just gets to me.
that and the ppl who frequent it tend to be annoying psuedo intellectual rich kids (sorry, no offence)
however i do appreciate starbucks' moderately vegan friendly ways. dont ask me how i kno that, i kno all kinds of random veg info.

I think the fact that they recognise me there and talk to me about stuff other than coffe at my store rebuts the arguments (in my case) that it appears to be personal. It is for me. And I've honestly never seen a Starbucks ad outside their stores, so they weren't huge on advertising obviously.

And I'm about the only person I know who frequents coffee shops. And Starbucks is cheaper than any other coffee store as far as quantity (and in my opinion, quality)

Starbucks was the first coffee company to employ the fairtrade system, and also helped many charities throughout the local and global community. You don't find many other coffee stores doing that nowadays :(
Good to know random info. Helps out on trivia nights :D

now now, dont get so defensive. im sure the ppl working in starbucks r perfectly friendly. im just not keen on mass marketing stuff like that, without getting too indignant, it forces everything else out of business and everywhere ends up being exactly the same.
nice that they help out with charity tho.

Thing is, Starbucks didn't market, except instore. That's one of the resons why they are closing so many stores sadly.
